  • Honorary Award Nomination Form

  • All current Swansea University staff members, alumni, Council & Senate members, along with Honorary Fellows are invited to submit nominations. Nominations can be made at any point during the year.

Nominations must be submitted online using this digital form, and all mandatory fields filled in fully. If you are having trouble completing this electronic version, please contact Sian Jones sian.a.jones@swansea.ac.uk for an alternative format.

Remember, the Honorary Awards Committee may not know the nominee as well as you do. The most successful nominations will be those that provide the detail needed to really showcase the nomineeʼs achievements and successes, and how they would complement the work of the University, as well as conveying your enthusiasm for nominating and celebrating them.

Please note: All nominations should remain confidential. Nominators must not share this information with the nominee. Please see our privacy notice to find out more about how we use this information.

    Eligibility

Please note, nominations cannot be made for:

    • current members of staff
    • serving members of University Court or Council

While people linked to business and other organisations working with the University will not be excluded, the Honorary Awards Committee will be mindful of the need to avoid real or perceived conflicts of interest.

We encourage nominations so that our Honorary Award recipients reflect the diversity of our university community. We currently have an under-representation of women and ethnic minorities within the Honorary Fellows group and would particularly welcome applications from these underrepresented groups. Appointments will always be made on merit.

  • About your nominee

  • Now tell us (in no more than 1,000 words) why they deserve to become an Honorary Fellow of Swansea University. (The most successful nominations will be those that provide the detail needed to really showcase the nomineeʼs achievements and successes, and how they would complement the work of the University). Please give as much detail as you can and ensure to include information on the following:

    • Why this person, and why now?
    • What's the reason for your nomination
    • Could Swansea University benefit from bestowing this honour? For example, could we collaborate with the nominee on research, teaching or business opportunities? Could they support a major project, initiative or activity? Is there potential for reputational benefit?
    • How could the University work with the nominee in the future? Are there any existing plans in place to work with the nominee?
    • Does the nominee have an existing relationship with any University staff members? If not, who would you propose would be a good strategic contact for them (someone who shares their interests, background or ambitions, who would make the most of the connection).

If you would like an example of successful nomination forms, please contact sian.a.jones@swansea.ac.uk.
